What is E-F1?


E-F1 (Electric Formula One) Radio Control pylon racing is racing class following the rules of the special interest group, the NMPRA (National Miniture Pylon Racing Association), for the AMA (Acadamey of Model Aeronautics).  The E-F1 class of race planes are all electric balsa and covering models based on historic full-size pylon race planes which made historical impact.

An E-F1 race consists of 10 laps around pylons with planes travelling up to 105-115mph, which usually lasts less than 90 seconds.  Races are conducted in heats of up to 4 planes at a time.  With the high speeds and multiple planes in the air at once all jockying for position, the races are often short and exiting.
